How I Use the Tarot and Other Oracles
I believe in the power of the unconscious, both individual and collective, to move energies at quantum level that effect events in the present and potentials for the future. We do, in fact, create our own reality, and therefore, we influence how the cards fall. So, there is real personal value to each individual reading as it reveals the intentions of querent and reader.
The collective consciousness also influences what goes on around us. The cards can pick up on those influences to provide insight into daily life and relationships with others.
I come primarily from the psychoanalyst Carl Jung’s archetypal perspective, so I focus on reading for the querent’s internal motivations and how they might affect their external circumstances. The archetype is a way to get our minds to expand beyond the usual, the concrete. The symbols are the thing, energetically. The images are triggers for self-reflection.
Although words are always limited, they can carry an emotional energy that is beyond the power of the words themselves. I use the images to trigger the emotions. The words of my conversation with a querent expand mind and heart. The cards also help a querent decide how to handle the energies presented by the cards.
We are always in a better position to change outcomes when we know what’s going on under the surface.
