Welcome to your weekly Tarot forecast! Looking forward to the power of the blue moon/super moon/lunar eclipse coming up this week Wednesday in my part of the world. Interesting set of energies to fill the week; look in your own environment for messages that seem hidden at first, or even for some depths in yourself that you need to explore.
I’m using the Alexander Daniloff Tarot this week. Daniloff’s artistic style just grabs me every time. Part medieval, part “mysteries of the East.” I like his unique take on the Tarot symbolism.
Since there is no specific question or area of concern for these readings, my interpretation will be very general in nature, based on my sense of what the Tarot itself is addressing and the general energy potentials for the week.
Definite pattern, though. Important things afoot with three out of five cards in the Major Arcana, one court card and one Minor. Mostly positive, but let’s look at this in more detail.
Let’s do a chronological look first, and then we’ll use some mirrored pairs to round out the message.
The Timeline View
We begin this week with The Lovers (VI), and a very medieval sensual lovers it is. Tristan and Isolde? Lancelot and Guinevere? Instead of standing apart in the Garden of Eden to make a decision as in most Rider-Waite-Smith style Lovers cards, it looks like they’ve already committed to the uncertainties of the mortal plane; she’s got that apple from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil in her grasp. And so the week starts with a decision (remember “Decide” was the last thing I wrote last week—a theme emerges), a significant one whose consequences may go on for longer than a week’s time. Make sure you are ready for the consequences of your choices this week. Especially since the next card is a two, the Two of Wands. Twos are normally about this and that, go or stay, make a decision (again!). The Two of Wands indicates that your important decision will be about venturing out into the world with a new passion or project.
By midweek, you will need to take a big break from all the decision-making and consequences thereof to allow whatever changes you’ve created to settle and produce a healing effect (The Star). You may find yourself at a place of hope for the future and release of the past. Let the Earth Mother take your pain, and look to the stars (maybe even the lunar eclipse/super moon as well) for spiritual guidance.
Moving toward the end of the week, you are feeling empowered (The Magician), but beware of gurus or thought leaders not revealing all their cards. This magician has two faces and may reflect some of the negative and more traditional side of his character as a trickster. He may try to mislead you into using your power through your ego (King of Wands) or get too caught up in recognition (Leo the Lion lies below the King). I see these two as a call to remember The Star and remain focused on your spiritual goals, even while pursuing what you are passionate about.
The Mirrored Tarot Pairs
The focal point for this view of your cards is the healing effect of your major decision on your own being (The Star). Not about other folks so much, but about you and how you feel about yourself and your world from this point forward.
Now let’s pair the outer cards up to see how they might inform your situation. Interesting combo: The Lovers and the King of Wands. I hope The Lovers are not in danger of someone’s dad (K of W) disapproving of their union and decision to experience all of their human selfhood. Good thing that Lion is just a lion’s skin.! The King looks stern, but no sword in sight, so he might just represent the mature power of passion that went into The Lovers decision to be together in the world. Reinforcement for your impassioned decision, whatever it may be.
The inner pair combines the expansive energy of the Two of Wands with the clever mask and manipulation of The Magician. The Magician being a Major Arcana card is in a position to deeply affect your plans in the Two of Wands, for good or ill it is hard to say. Again, I think it will be important to not allow your own ego (Magician) to trump the healing power of The Star and short-circuit your passionate ambitions. Go for it, but keep a weather eye out for things not necessarily being what they seem. And keep your other eye on that guiding Star.
