Question 4: How long have you been reading the Tarot?
I began my exploration of Tarot in 1999, but didn’t really do anything with it until 2012 (just in time for the “end of the world” according to the Mayan calendar!) My own pattern reminds me that we often begin things as a hobby or play thing, and then don’t think about them as a professional career idea until the seed of inspiration sprouts, often years later. Never too late, just sayin’.
When I originally discovered the Tarot back in the late 1990s, I loved using it for my own psychological/spiritual development. I was trying out all sorts of energy healing things and self-forgiveness, as well as going through the ups and downs of relationship issues and getting divorced. So, the Tarot was a personal guide at that point.
Then I went on a search for emotional stability and creative expression that led to poetry writing (some of it here), absorption of a lot of folk music, and a new relationship. Life’s detours!
Got reacquainted with Tarot because of Twitter, actually, and a now-friend from Scotland whom I met through that social network. Sara’s re-introduction of Tarot to me, plus the resources of TABI (Tarot Association of the British Isles) led me to take cartomancy seriously as a way to channel whatever helping/healing energies I have to contribute.
I went professional with my Tarot readings several years ago (get yours here!). I am still finding great satisfaction and connection with my reading clients and validation of the ability to channel my knowings through the Tarot’s symbolism.
