Which was your first deck? How did you get it?
I was given quite good advice, I think, from the likes of Fennario and others on the Facebook Lenormand Study Group to choose a simple traditional petit Lenormand deck so I could see the main symbol right away to help with learning. More ornate decks can be nice later, but for learning this system in particular, simple and uncluttered is best. I was also told that many folks find the verse inserts on the cards to be distracting, although most are not in English. Playing card inserts are considered more useful, and I have also found this to be so, since the playing card numbers and suits can add additional meaning.
I did find some of the traditional Continental European decks to have, well, awkward looking figures, but I did like the Owl variety. There are three “colors” (This reflects the back cover of the cards): red, blue, and a more vibrantly colored white. I got the White Owl and found it to be really nice. My only small quibble is that I sometimes get the Moon and Stars cards mixed up. It’s a great day-to-day working Lenormand deck.
